August 2009 - Notification by contractor of red light jumping issue
The contractors involved in the new A46 have recently contacted me regarding incidents at the traffic lights installed on Henson Lane towards the A46.
They are extremely concerned that there have been 17 instances of cars on Henson Lane jumping red lights and due to the heavy nature of the dumper trucks are worried there will be an accident.
They will be recording any vehicles jumping red lights from now on to pass onto the police. Beware!
Please direct any comments to Pam Hobson, their Public Liason Officer on the number given on the attached document.
July 2009 - A46 Road Widening Project
As you are no doubt aware the A46 widening project has commenced and is starting to affect the village, especially the Henson Lane junction with the A46. We are lucky enough to have someone on the committee who works in the road construction industry and they are helping to interface with the contractors to keep us up-to-date with the developments and the issues it is likely to cause in the short-term and what benefit we are likely to get in the long-term.
The junction with Henson Lane and the A46 will eventually be closed permanently but we are assured that until this becomes necessary the junction will remain open. Notice of upcoming work will be provided by the contractor so we should be able to keep you informed via this website, or more directly if you can provide your email address (email to the USRA Secretary at secretary@usra.org.uk
The Highways Agency provide information on the ongoing works and this can be viewed at http://www.highways.gov/roads/projects/4403.aspx. Also attached are two PDF documents which show the planned layout post completion for the A46/A52 roundabout and the overbridge off Henson Lane into Cropwell Butler

We will keep you informed as more information becomes available. If you have any concerns or want to know more please come along to the USRA monthly meetings where there is an on-going discussion of this and other important community topics.
