Welcome to the Upper Saxondale Residents’ Association web site.

Introduction from the Chair

Most of us will have been attracted to living in Upper Saxondale due to its unique nature; full of history and pleasant green, natural surroundings. The residents’ association formed to ensure that the developers delivered on their promises in the brochures and gradually evolved into a social as well as a lobbying group.

Many of the original residents who moved here in 1997 are still here and have devoted many hours to keeping the surroundings pleasant for us all.

In recent years, there have been many new faces, myself included and we are working together to build on that sense of vitality and community spirit and maintain links with Parish and Borough Councils.

There has been much concern recently about the standard of maintenance of the parkland areas and gazebos, which are still owned by David Wilson Homes (DWHs), now Barratts. Please read further on our Land page for information on how USRA is working hard to ensure our green areas are kept neat and tidy.

In 2007, USRA secured for communal ownership 12 acres around the Village Hall/Clubhouse from DWHs and a £17000 grant to plant a woodland and wildflower meadow, which dozens of residents hand-planted and are slowly growing to become a haven for wildlife as well as a valued walking area.

We try to offer a range of social events, mainly to raise funds for the maintenance of our woodland/ meadow area and village hall. These well-supported occasions include Pub Quizzes, Big Screen Last Night of the Proms Picnic, Childrens’ Christmas Party, Summer Ball and Christmas Dinner.  Upper Saxondale also has a Tennis Club, Bowls Club, Wellspring Church, Restaurant and Hair and Beauty Salon.

I am sure we will be met by more and different challenges as time moves on. All suggestions are welcome; especially those with an offer to get involved!

We meet on the last Tuesday of every month (except December) at 8.00pm in the Village Hall/ Clubhouse and all are welcome.
