Sports Massage in the Clubhouse
January 1st, 2007 by Administrator
Sports massage is deep tissue massage that works deeper into the muscles than body massage. Previously it was only truly utilised within the elite sporting arena, as a regular part of a professional athlete’s training regime. Only in the last 10 years have the benefits of sports massage been recognised and availability to all been established. Today, research shows that sports massage has three main focuses for its use:
-
Human performance: Value your quality of life? Questioning your flexibility? Want mental and physical relaxation? Sports massage aids quality of life, relieving general aches and pains from muscle tension, caused by postural stress, sports and everyday life. It improves flexibility and improves the condition of the deep and superficial tissues. Massage also improves sports performances by ensuring muscles recover effectively from exercise/sport. It is powerful in relaxing muscles pre and post intense exercise/events.
-
Injury prevention: Occupational hazards i.e. car and desk-based jobs, sedentary lifestyles and postural stress are the biggest culprits in people suffering from neck tension and experiencing lower back pain. Sports massage works to undo the muscle imbalances we often reinforce on a day-to-day basis.
-
Injury Treatment: Sports massage therapy plays a vital part in the treatment and rehabilitation of chronic injuries, aches and pains. Why put up with pain when you don’t have to!
